So the question this week is- how many books do you have cataloged in your LibraryThing account? How do you decide what to include- everything you have, everything you've read- and are there things you leave off?
So far I have only cataloged a few...96 to be exact. I probably have a thousand or so to go, it's going to take me a while. My husband has been really working on his, he has over 1400 cataloged! As you can see, we have ALOT of books in our house!
I had decided to only catalog the books that I actually have permanently in my library. Mostly for insurance purposes. If I ever needed a list for replacements, I would have it. However I will now be reviewing books that I won't necessarily want to keep, but will want the review to remain. So I'll be using a tag, like "not owned", for those that I have reviewed but passed on to others.
Just finished "The Aviary Gate" and will have the review up in a couple of days. "Songs for the Missing" by Stewart O'Nan is next, I'll start that today. I just received a review copy of "The Lace Reader" by Brunonia Barry in the mail today and I am bumping it to the top of my To Be Read list because it looked so good!

I have been an avid reader all of my life, since I took the Dr. Seuss Dictionary away from my Mom when I was less than a year old because I wanted to read it myself. In college, where I earned my degree in English Literature, I was often asked "What are you going to do with it?" Now I finally have the answer to that question!!! Being employed as a Flight Attendant for twenty years has given me a lot of life experience and, better still, a lot of time to read. I love to travel for fun, too.

I'll be interested to see what you think of "The Lace Reader." I read it just recently and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
Second only to the fun of adding them was the fun of creating, and then recreating, my tag list!!! It helps to have a laptop and a wireless network, though! I crouched my way around the bookshelves in the house one Christmas doing most of mine!
I have all 3 on my tbr pile and hope to start this week. I can't wait to read your reviews!
I heard that the "Lace Reader" was very good, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your review.
I like to tag, there's nothing quite like looking at the tag cloud at the end and feeling a sense of accomplishment. Small things please me obviously LOL.
Do you and your husband have separate accounts? My husband and I combined our books and while some we could probably identify as being one or the others, mostly they're just ours. Haha LT is more my project than it is my husband's but I entered both of our books into the same library.
I have to agree with Lyzzy - tagging is a blast! Of course, every time I come up with a great new descriptive tag, I have to go back through my entire library, to make sure I've attached to everything applicable...and by the end, I've come up with more tags!
Well, I didn't get the tagging thing at first, but now I'm working on going back to tag the books that I listed and didn't tag! I love that tag cloud, too.
My husband and I have separate accounts. His books are mostly not what I would read and vice versa. That being said, we do have a group that is shared. We were both English Lit majors so lots of classics in common. But my wonderful husband, generous in absolutely everything else, does not like to share books. That's okay with me, I love them too and can understand not wanting to share!
