Here Come the Holidays! How About a Giveaway?

In KATIE BROWN CELEBRATES, Katie gives readers a reason to host a party every month of the year. From a festive New Year's Eve dinner to a lavish Christmas brunch, from the perfect child's birthday party to a down-home family reunion, readers will delight in Katie's signature approach to making any celebration simply wonderful. With delicious recipes, straightforward craft projects, and tips for casual entertaining, Katie shows how any host can make a delicious meal and create gorgeous ambiance without the hassle. KATIE BROWN CELEBRATES is a must-have for anyone who ever gives--or has ever thought of giving--a party.

Well the holidays are just about here, how do they come around so fast? It seems like every year they sneak up on me. They shouldn't, considering the stores have had Christmas stuff out in the aisles since well before Halloween (okay, I admit it, that's a pet peeve of mine). With holiday entertaining and parties galore, you might want some new inspiration, so how about a copy of Katie Brown Celebrates? Wouldn't it make a great gift?

I am giving away a copy of this book to five lucky winners courtesy of the wonderful Anna Balasi at Hachette Book Group! To enter just leave a comment here with a little note that says what special thing you or your family do to celebrate the holidays. You can earn two extra entries by blogging about this contest & linking back here OR by becoming a follower of my blog! Enter until 11:59 pm eastern time on Sunday, November 23. Winners will be chosen at random, you must have a US or Canada mailing address (no PO Boxes). Good Luck & Happy Holidays!

A group of friends and co-workers have started a cookie exchange. It's a fun way to share and to get lots of different cookies to pass around for the holidays! We also share the recipes, and that's fun too! This year I'm looking for a new, special and different recipe for my contribution! This might be just the right kind of book to give me some ideas! Please enter me! Thanks!

Please enter me. We have a Tortiere on Christmas Eve every year. I'm vegetarian 95% of the time, but I make an exception for tortiere which we only ever eat at Christmas time.

I'll be giving away some different holiday books at the end of November on Booklorn.com.

I always do a cookie-decorating party... I make sugar cookie and gingerbread dough, and then have cookie cutters, sprinkles, colored sugar, icing, etc. for people to make and decorate their own cookies. Only problem is I'm usually too busy running back and forth to the oven every eight minutes that I don't get to decorate many of my own.

I've posted on Win A Book. No need to enter the contest.

I continue the tradition, started by my dad, of decorating our house for Christmas while listening to Elvis Christmas music. I even did it in college - I had to go out and buy a tape of Elvis music, but I wasn't willing to give up the tradition.

I adore Katie Brown! For more years than I've been around (and no, I'm not saying how many!)my mom's family has gotten together at my aunt's house on Christmas Eve. Lots of loud fun, gifts for the kids and always, always Totino's Pizza Rolls. Not very elegant, but still a tradition! Thanks!

We always go to my mom's house on Christmas Eve and then all go over to the late service at church. This year I'm hoping to have a few get-togethers at our house during the season. This is the first year we actually have furniture in our living room.

For over 25 years now my sisters and I, and now our children and my grandchildren all play "secret elves" and deliver gifts for the 12 Days of Christmas. It's alot of fun ~ but after all this time it is getting hard to think of new and clever ways and ideas.

I love Katie Brown, I watch her show on PBS. One of my favorite things to do for the holidays is going caroling with family and friends. Or making christmas cookies and decorating them with my sister and niece.

O thank you! Normally for Thanksgiving we go camping but for Christmas we've always just stayed in. My husband has been thinking about having a bunch of people over for a holiday party so this book would be a ton of help for me. Thanks!

Please enter me, I am so lame at hosting dinners or parties...I could use the help!
My family each year for Christmas dinner we do a "theme" dinner. We do the turkey thing at Thanksgiving so Christmas my mom picks a theme and then we each bring a dish in the theme. One year it was "pumpkin", now that was a strange meal...pumpkin soup, pumpkin salad, pumpkin pie, pumpkin main course...since then the themes have been a little milder! Thank Goodness, my poor husband still brings up the pumpkin meal!

We may not have a lot of family tradition to follow over the holidays, but one area we indulge in is preparing holiday foods. The full turkey dinner and lots of baking. I would love to add to my repertoire of holiday dishes.

I just learned about google reader and added you to mine so I can follow this wonderful blog.

On Christmas Eve I hide clues all over the house and let the grandchildren go on a treasure hunt for one special gift. I follow your blog through google reader, and I'd love a chance to win this book.

When my family decorates the tree, we each choose a new ornament at the store, then we go home and decorate while drinking eggnog and listening the Christmas carols.

This special time is so meaningful for our family. My Mom and I cook up a storm for her large family. SInce my mom goes all out it is a Mediterranean fest which we love.

Since my children were young we had a party for adults and kids in our family. It is smaller now but just as much fun. The yearly treats are expected and no one is ever disappointed.

This looks great! One tradition we have is to always top the tree with a small santa hat. It originally came off of some stuffed toy, but to us it will always be the tree topper.

My family will bake cookies together and enjoy my dad's spiced cider. I've become a fan of Katie's show on PBS, so thanks for a chance to win her book!

Our extended family always got together on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts and have beef on weck sandwiches (sliced roast beef on kimmelweck rolls)and all of the extras. Once we started to have little kids in the family again it became too hard to travel back and forth with Christmas the next morning. Now we still get together but we usually do it sometime the week after. It's easier and we also have a chance to take advantage of the after holiday sales. All of the kids have a cousin exchange and they can find better deals this way. It's a more relaxed atmosphere and we still have our beef on weck! Thanks for your contest and I've added it to my blog.

I always make up trays of baking for our offices - each year I get asked earlier and earlier when I'll be bringing them in - everyone wants to be there that day!

Advent calendars are a must in our household and I make our own, changing the style often. Sometimes using sweets and other times other little luxuries in each countdown pocket.
We also host a huge gingerbread making event for our daughter and her friends.

We are going to spend every free moment making my mothers Xmas as special as possible. She has altzheimer's and we keep losing a little bit more of her as time goes by. This time last year she was totally fine. Not even a hint of a problem.

She wants to still have her yearly Xmas eve party. We will have to do it all. But she wants to have it! Yipee!!! Ideas don't come easy to her.

Anyways Monday we are going Xmas shopping. She doesn't want to go. But I talked her into it. i just wanted to get her out to see the decorations in the stores. She will enjoy it once she gets there.

Oh well, enough of this. Merry Xmas to all! :)

We will be together with my sons and their wives for a special holiday meal. This is one that is memorable since it has special items that each of us enjoys. Treats and yummies. Thanks.

Rashmi said...

With a large, geographically scattered family, just getting together for the holidays is a challenging business. Once we're together, we talk and catch up with all that's happened since we were all last together, which could easily have been a decade or so ago.

Thanks for this great giveaway!

I have been an avid reader all of my life, since I took the Dr. Seuss Dictionary away from my Mom when I was less than a year old because I wanted to read it myself. Being employed as a Flight Attendant for twenty years has given me a lot of life experience and, better still, a lot of time to read. I love to travel for fun, too.
